About BA Paper

With a history dating back to 1986, Business Administration Paper (BA Paper) is one of the oldest international business plan writing competitions and is annually organised by Hong Kong Federation of Business Students. In the competition, participants will be given chances to:

  • equip themselves in the training session
  • mingle with business leaders at different events
  • be inspired by entrepreneurs and/or executives
  • present their business to experienced business elites and scholars
  • interact with talented business undergraduates from other universities

Initially, BA Paper was carried out in an essay-writing format. In the mid-90’s, BA Paper evolved into a case competition in order to keep our members abreast of the dynamic business environment. Stepping into the 21st century, BA Paper began launching training sessions to inspire contestants on related topics to the competition, making the BA Paper experience not only about competing but also self-developing.

Competition with foreign teams was spearheaded in 2004 when the best foreign team from Tsinghua University of Mainland China competed with elites in Hong Kong. As for today, BA Paper welcomes applications from the ten local universities’ students, and overseas universities’ students with our reach expanding to Mainland, Singapore, Japan, Europe, United States, and many other countries.

While BA Paper has undergone various stages of evolution, its crux of providing a chance of recognition for business students’ high-quality works has never wavered. Over the past years, we are honoured to have remarkable support rendered from different sectors of business and academics. The competition has been fostering the interflow of ideas between the academic field and the business field, ultimately enhancing our members’ knowledge of the real business environment. By taking students to a larger arena from their routine classroom projects, students are propelled to think, learn, inspire, and be inspired on a much larger scale.
